Here we include the information you need to connect an email account to your device (phone or mail client)

G Online Sites offers free POP and IMAP email accounts with all hosting packages. These work with any desktop or mobile email client (such as Outlook, Mac Mail, iPhones, Android, Thunderbird etc). Outbound email works using SMTP.

In this article, you will find the correct way of setting up your email account on your personal device, whether it’s a laptop/desktop or mobile. While each email client can be different in its layout, the settings that are needed are the same.

📘

SSL Security

We include free SSL certificates. Therefore, we recommend always using SSL for mail. This ensures that no one can steal your credentials if you are for instance on a public WiFi connection.

IMAP vs POP

We recommend using IMAP as a mail protocol.

POP is a way of downloading messages from your mailbox to your local device.

IMAP syncs your local device with the mail server. This allows multiple devices to effectively check mail at once.

Email Configuration Settings

Please replace any references to yourdomain.com with your domain name. Note that references to yourdomain.com will only work when your domain points to our hosting.

SettingConfiguration Value
Incoming ServerEither
– mail.yourdomain.com
– the server hostname
Outgoing ServerEither
– mail.yourdomain.com
– the server hostname
UsernameYour full email address (e.g. you@yourdomain.com)
PasswordYour email account password as set in cPanel
Incoming Port– 993 for IMAP (Recommended)
– 995 for POP
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) Port– 465
SSLOn / Yes
SMTP AuthenticationRequired
If asked, use the same username and password as above.
SPA / Secure Password AuthenticationOff

There is also a way, that you can obtain these settings throughout your cPanel account, that you have with us, and all you need to do, is to login to it first. Then, head down to the “Email Accounts” tool and after your email address, there will be a “Connect Devices” option, in which this and other useful information is displayed.

Old email clients

Some older email clients have trouble with SNI based SSL certificates. This means you will need to use the server hostname instead of mail.[yourdomain.com] for the incoming and outgoing server hostname. If you stumble upon any issues, please feel free to contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.
